The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.

Mr. Meltz made a motion to approve the minutes of the September 12, 2016 meeting. Motion seconded by Mr. Brady and unanimously approved.

Ms. Dorney gave a summary of the recreation programs. Dog Day at the Pool had a total of 20 dogs; the low number was attributed to the weather.   Aftercare has a total of 72 enrolled, with the last Kids Day Off program having 42 attend.  Intramural Soccer has 150 enrolled.  It was related that there $2750 has been raised in sponsorships for the 5K Run/Walk thus far compared with $2900 raised in 2015.

Upcoming events include the Fine Arts Commission's artist reception on October 7 and the Village is co-sponsoring Green Day on October 22.   The 5K race is scheduled for Sunday November 13.

Mr. Brady expressed some concerns over the final Recreation survey. Mr. Brady said there were no final usage numbers presented in the survey.  Ms. Dorney said that Key Biscayne is the only recreation center making a profit, and this is based on the usage of their fitness center.  The indoor running track would be a nice amenity to have in the new facility.

It was noted that Manaway Lapaix has been promoted to the position of Athletic Program  Assistant.

Ms. Dorney related the the Council has approved up to $200,000 to build a Dog Park. Seven parking spaces will be taken for the dog park. Additional parking will be created to replace the lost parking.

Committee members inquired if the recreation department is being compensated from Johnson & Wales who is using the athletic fields on weekends.

The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
