The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.

Mr. O’Hara made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 4, 2015, meeting. Motion seconded by Mr. Ise and unanimously approved.

Mr. Estep noted that summer registration is ongoing with camp beginning June 8. The pool staff will be having an in-service for their entire staff at the end of the week. Specialty camps are also filling up. This year summer camp will be 11 weeks long.  Mr. Estep related that Ballard King is tweaking the design of the new recreation center following suggestions that have been made.

The 3rd annual 5K run is scheduled for November 1st with sponsorships needed again this year. Mr. Meltz suggested that a sponsorship packet be emailed to the Committee members by August 15 so that any sponsors can be brought to the September meeting. Mr. Estep said that different options including costs and designs will be submitted to the Council. The next county election that Miami Shores could piggy back off of is in March 2016. Mr. Estep said there will probably be two community meetings and then designs will be created for Council to pick a favorite one. Council will have the final vote but recommendations by staff and the Committee will be factored into. There will also be discussions with Presbyterian Church regarding parking.   Parking friendly options are needed.

The floor was opened for public discussion. Mr. Frame asked if there are any new guidelines regarding weekend rentals. Mr. Estep said the Center is considering having ‘late rentals’ have an off duty officer which would be included in their rental fee. This could mean either off duty police officers or a security company.

Mr. Estep noted that the Vita Course is proceeding with approval given for artificial turf.

The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
