The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.

Mr. Geimer made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 5, 2018 meeting. Motion seconded by Mr. O’Hara and unanimously approved.

Ms. Dorney noted that the door handle on the handicapped restroom at the Tot Lot meets ADA requirements.

The Committee reviewed the Village’s 5 year capital improvements plan. The new recreation bus will be a 36 passenger with an additional two handicapped seats. Ms. Dorney noted that capital projects are fluid; projects are added or removed as needed.

Committee members toured the Community Center, noting the uses for each room. Ms. Redman noted the need for new window treatments in various rooms. The need for new light fixtures in the Center was noted. It was also noted that the restrooms at the tennis center need to be added to the capital improvement list.

After the tour each of the Committee members noted their ‘wish lists’ for the Center. Mr. Geimer said the ceiling tiles and lights need to be addressed to enhance the rooms. Ms. Sotir noted the drop ceilings give an old/dirty look to the rooms. Mr. Hadad suggested that the ceiling heights need to be raised; the wood floors also need to be refinished. Ms. Henry said that the art room needs a complete renovation. Mr. O’Hara suggested having sponsors fund the renovation of the piano or ballet rooms. Mr. O’Hara suggested focusing on the reno of one

room at a time. Mr. Hadad also suggested creating a closure between the back fence and the building to create a secure area.

Discussion turned to new business. Mr O’Hara noted that Council approved a park and open space master plan which has been sent to planning and zoning for a scope of solicitation; the plan excludes the community center and the recreation fields from the master plan. The plan includes Bayfront Park, Optimist Park, Memorial Park, Constitution Park and the Tot Lot. Ms. Dorney said that the areas identified are passive parks. There will also be three scheduled charettes. Mr. O’Hara suggested a motion for the Committee to be included before any final decision is made by the Council.

Mr. O’Hara made a motion that the Recreation Advisory Committee is requesting that the parks and open space master plan be referred to the Committee, along with the planning and zoning board, to determine the scope of the solicitation. Motion seconded by Mr. Geimer and unanimously approved.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
