Meeting of the Board of Trustees

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

  1. The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Brockway Memorial Library was called to order at 9:30 am. Present: Elizabeth Esper (library director) and board members Cheryl Gowing (chair), Michael Clay, Antonie Downs, Henry Harnage, and Jennifer Quinton.


2.  Minutes


  1. The minutes of the October 8th meeting were approved.

  2. The minutes of the November 18th meeting were approved.

3.  Fiscal report.


The financial report was approved.

4.  Old Business

  1. Parking Meters. The Library has received over 50 submissions which will be reviewed by the Village Art Committee the week of December 7th. The reception for the students and parents will be held Saturday, January 24th at 10 am. The winners will be invited to the art reception on January 30th.

  2. The application for the Unity Ball grants has been completed and will be submitted by the deadline.

 5. New Business


  1. It is the responsibility of the Board to set the salary for the Library Director. After reviewing the incoming director’s academic credentials and years of public library experience the Board approved a salary of 10% over base.

  2. The Board approved the library closing on Jan. 19 at 2 pm to prepare for a special event that evening.

  3. Cheryl Gowing as Board Chair will invite Meghan Grimbert (Weston) to the next board meeting to discuss her concerns and survey re: children’s programming.

 6. Community Alliance. Henry Harnage reported there were numerable announcements of holiday activities.

He and Marianne Swan promoted the library Artisan Craft Bazaar.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 am. The next meeting of the Board is on January 14th at 9 am in the Library.
