The meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Brockway Library was called to order at 9:15 am by Vice Chair: Laura Farley. Present: Michelle Brown, Library Director; Board members: Chair: Cheryl Gowing (via phone), Laura Farley, Donna Hurtak, Kathy Redmond and Christine Gay.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None                               



  1. Construction Update: September 5 is deadline for contractor proposals. Michelle Brown and Tom Benton will review these proposals and final decision will take place in December. Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 6pm is final budget meeting with Council; Second hearing will take place on September 18, 2018.

  2. Review Estimated Project Cost: Construction cost base scope is $441,603 which includes interior new addition, interior renovation (youth area perimeter walls/privacy) and exterior.

  3. Selection of design elements – carpet specs: Final approval to accept new carpet pattern for performance area was Parade by Interface. Additionally, a discussion ensued regarding mural, mosaic or tapestry for the wall in back of the stage.

  4. Fundraising Proposals: Michelle reported that we may not receive state funding for this project and several suggestions were made such as contacting Publix or Chevrolet dealership to underwrite. Kathy suggested a partnership fundraiser with the Chamber. Cheryl suggested fundraising during Green Day on November 3. Christine suggested reviewing the list of previous donors and contributions. $50,000 is the targeted amount to revamp existing space.

  5. Other Items:   October 6th (10am -2pm)– Artisan Fair, October 20th – Harry Potter, October 25th (6-7pm) - GOAL event, November 3rd - Green Day, November 10th - History Bus Tour.
