Mr. Bruce made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 28, 2019 meeting.   Motion seconded by Mr. Clark and unanimously approved.

Mr. Bruce made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 17, 2019 meeting.  Motion seconded by Ms. Hoffman and unanimously approved.

Artists Mary Larsen and Leonor Anthony were presented as alternate suggestions for the mural wall.  It was suggested that each of the artists present one proposal for the mural wall.

It was related that the Commission received $4000 from the Miami Shores Community Alliance for the concert series.

It was noted that since Commissioner Edmonson’s term is ending in November 2020, the Commission should apply early for grants.

It was noted that the Commission has asked for $15,000 for FY 2020.

It was noted that the Village is waiting for the interlocal agreement for the utility boxes and then the permitting process can be submitted.

It was related that the library has accepted artist Mateo Serna for the October Exhibit.  The library board expressed their desire to work with the Commission to select future artists and exhibit dates.   Mr. Serna has inquired about a stipend for printing the artwork/framing.  Mr. Stock made a motion to approve $200 from the Commission’s donation account for framing for the October exhibit.  Motion seconded by Mr. Bruce and unanimously approved.   The library asked for an informational pamphlet on the exhibiting artist with a price list for the staff.

Discussion turned to the Egret ad. The Commission would like to pay for three Egret ads (October, January and February) with the combined balance of the FY 2019 budget and the Unite grant; a 6 unit ad for October and 8 unit ads for both January and February.

Discussion turned to the Library Exhibit in February for black history month. The Commission tentatively selected a date of February 13, pending approval of the Library Board.  Mr. Bruce and Ms. Rojas voted in favor in Leonor Anthony and Robert Polillo.

At this time Ms. Rojas and Mr. Bruce left the meeting.

The Commission selected dates for the FY 2020 concert series.  January 17 (Moonlight Concert); February 21 (Fireside Concert); March 15 (Memorial Park Spring Concert).

The Commission selected a tentative date of either April 2 or April 3 for Gallery Night.

It was suggested having Summer Shorts by City Theater for an April event. The cost is $2500.  This is a play reading not a full performance.  Mr. Stock felt the cost was too high.  Another option would be an opera performance or a Cabaret performance.

The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
