A copy of the upcoming January Egret was distributed to members for corrections.

It was related that the movie night subcommittee selected The Muppet Movie. Other suggested movies were Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Charlotte’s Web and Willy Wonka. There will be a $200 charge to show the movie and a $5 suggested donation for admission. The Commission will also need to pay a staffing fee for the movie technician. O Cinema will run the concession pending staff. Mr. Stock made a motion to accept the subcommittee’s suggestion of The Muppet Movie and approve $500 for screening fees and any additional costs. Motion seconded by Ms. Salt and unanimously approved. Ms. Salt volunteered to be in charge of prizes for the costume contest at the event.

Discussion turned to Gallery Night. January 16 has been set as the date for deinstallation of the current artwork and January 23 will be the installation of Janet Mueller’s artwork. It was noted that flutist Cathi Morro has been confirmed for the evening.

A proposal for a call to artists for the north lawn of Village Hall was distributed to members. This call to artists is similar to one for the lobby of Village Hall. It was suggested that this call to artists be distributed on Facebook, The Egret and through gallery contacts. Submission deadline is March 3. April 25 is the suggested date for the reception for the library exhibit and the Village Hall lawn sculpture. Ms. Salt made a motion to approve the call to artists for the north lawn of Village Hall and distribute it to the appropriate venues contingent on Village approval. Motion seconded by Mr. Stock and unanimously approved.

It was related that an insurance rider is needed from Dance Now for their performance and this will be added to the cost of the performance. It was decided to have a post-performance reception for Dance Now. The show will be from 7:30-8:30 p.m.

It was noted that the Santana band has been confirmed for the March 23 spring concert.

Mr. Stock made a motion to have a donation jar at all Commission events. Motion seconded by Ms. Salt and unanimously approved.

Suggested artists for the October library exhibit are Alissa Christine (yearlong photo documentary) and Federico Bianchi (Miami Shores photographer with abstract Florida-related pictures). Mr. Bianchi has been a winner at the Commission’s Photo Op contests. It was suggested to see if both of these artists have large pieces to display at the library. Further discussion was tabled until the next meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
