PUBLIC NOTICE

 

Miami Shores Village is applying to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s Rebuild Florida Critical Facility Hardening Program (CFHP) to support the Police Department Facility Hardening project.

The purpose of the Police Department Facility Hardening project is to fortify the existing structure to meet or exceed the wind, flood, and fire design criteria to ensure continuation of emergency operations when there is a declared disaster.  The facility is located at 9990 NE 2nd Ave, Miami Shores, FL 33138.

 

The Village is soliciting public comment on the project.   Persons wanting to submit written comments on the application should send them to David McLeod, Lieutenant, David.McLeod@mspd.org or by mail to 9990 NE 2nd Ave, Miami Shores, FL 33138 no later than June 26th, 2020. 

 

A copy of the final application is available upon request after June 26, 2020, by contacting Lieutenant David McLeod.  The application will be submitted to DEO on or before June 30, 2020.

 

About the CDBG-Mitigation Program:   In April 2018, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that the state of Florida would receive $633,485,000 in funding to support long-term mitigation efforts (following Hurricanes Hermine, Matthew and Irma) through HUD’s newly created Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) program. The Federal Register Vol. 84, No. 169, which delineates all program requirements, was released on August 30, 2019.

 

Eligible projects under the Critical Facility Hardening Program include the following types of structures as critical facilities: potable water facilities, wastewater facilities, police departments, fire departments, hospitals, emergency operation centers, and emergency shelters.
