MSV Celebrates Black History Month
Today marks the beginning of #BlackHistoryMonth! Throughout February, we reflect & honor those who have paved the way!
Brockway Memorial Library Programs:
South Florida People of Color
- Join South Florida People of Color in partnership with Brockway Memorial Library for the virtual documentary film screening of When Liberty Burns: The story of the “McDuffie Riots” of 1980. Screening will be followed by a Unity360 Virtual Community Dialogue. Registered participants will be granted access to view the film up to 2 days prior to the Unity360 Community Dialogue, which will ask, “Where were you when Liberty burned?” and dig into how this important and still-relevant Miami story has affected us personally and as a community. Miami Shores Arts Alive Online Series:
- Miami Shores Fine Arts Commission is offering this FREE Online Event as part of their Miami Shores Arts Alive Online series on Friday, February 19 at 7:30 PM. Singer/songwriter Leesa Richards is helping to shape and define Miami’s evolving sound. - State of Black Miami 2020-One Heritage
Wednesday, February 3, 7 - 9 PM.
One Heritage State of Black Miami Forum endeavors to pursue recommended ideas, initiatives, and legislation for impacting the State of Black Miami.
The Summit will also promote the cultural theme of One Heritage and inclusiveness within all of Black Miami.
The Forum will be community conversation about achieving economic prosperity and improving quality of life. Register for the virtual event.
