Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez issued Emergency Order 06-20 and 07-20

Today, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez issued Emergency Order 06-20 and 07-20 which have an impact to the day-to-day operations in Miami Shores Village and Miami-Dade County.

In order to safeguard our community, Miami Shores Village will be enforcing Miami-Dade County Emergency Orders in response to the public health threat of COVID-19.


Effective today, Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 9:00 AM:

All parks, beaches and recreational facilities, both public and private, throughout the County are ordered closed.

This closure will impact the following Miami Shores Village facilities:

  • ALL Miami Shores Recreation Fields
  • Miami Shores Community Center
  • Miami Shores Dog Park
  • Miami Shores Field House
  • Miami Shores Tennis Center
  • Miami Shores Tot Lot
  • Bayfront Park
  • Constitution Park
  • Memorial Park
  • Optimist Park
  • Miami Shores Country Club and Golf Course


Effective tonight at 9:00 PM

ALL non-essential commercial establishments are ordered closed.

  • Essential establishments may remain open. Here’s a summary of these businesses:
    • Healthcare providers;
    • Grocery stores, farmers’ markets, food banks, and convenience stores;
    • Food cultivation (farming, livestock, and fishing);
    • Businesses that provide food, shelter, and social services to needy individuals;
    • Media services;
    • Gas stations, auto-supply, and auto-repair stores;
    • Banks;
    • Hardware stores;
    • Contractors (appliance repair personnel, exterminators, etc.);
    • Businesses providing mailing and shipping services;
    • Private colleges, trade schools, and technical colleges but only as needed to facilitate distance learning;
    • Laundromats and dry cleaners;
    • Restaurants only for take-out and delivery;
    • Schools and entities that provide free food service, only for pick-up and takeaway;
    • Businesses that supply office products;
    • Businesses that ship/deliver groceries, food, good, or services directly to homes;
    • Airlines, taxis, and other private transportation providers;
    • Home-based care providers;
    • Assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and adult day care centers;
    • Professional services (legal/accounting) when necessary to assist with legally mandated activities;
    • Landscape and pool care businesses;
    • Childcare facilities with certain mandatory conditions;
    • Businesses operating at any airport, seaport, or other governmental facility;
    • Pet supply stores;
    • Logistics providers (warehouses, trucks, consolidators, fumigators, handlers);
    • Telecommunications providers;
    • Propane or natural gas providers;
    • Office space and administrative support for the listed activities;
    • Open construction sites;
    • Architectural, engineering, and land surveying services;
    • Factories, manufacturing plants;
    • Waste management services;
    • Any business that interacts with customers solely through electronic or telephonic means and that delivers products via mail or delivery services.
