Contact the Village LGBTQ Liaison

Contact the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning (LGBTQ) Community Liaison?

Miami Shores Village and the Miami Shores Police Department are committed to making sure that all members of the community are represented and have the same access to services.  Miami Shores encourages active assistance to ensure the entire community is served with courage, pride and commitment. In order to make sure the entire community is treated with dignity and respect, the Village has appointed two LGBTQ liaisons. Village Manager, Tom Benton has appointed Scott Davis as the LGBTQ Community Liaison for general Miami Shores Village issues or concerns and Miami Shores Police Chief Kevin Lystad has appointed Lt. David Golt to uphold the department’s promise to serve everyone with dignity and respect as the agency’s LGBTQ Police Community Liaison.

The LGBTQ community liaisons focus on the needs of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning communities, as well as their allied partners. The LGBTQ community liaisons serve as a resource to elevate the specific concerns and needs of Miami Shores Village’s LGBTQ community members to the appropriate department or staff member.

The Miami Shores Police Department LGBTQ liaison is committed to:

  • Fostering positive relations between the LGBTQ community and the police by providing a liaison for community members who may be crime victims, have information or issues of concern to the police department.
  • Working with officers in areas with a large, visible LGBTQ community within them, to address concerns of that area.
  • Assists in productive dialogue with detective units concerning LGBTQ related crimes.
  • Works in partnership with other Village departments, other law enforcement agencies and entities, and community based organizations, education and involvement in other LGBTQ related issues.
  • Maintaining an interactive role in recruit based and in-service police trainings regarding the LGBTQ community.

The Village LGBTQ liaisons have been appointed to establish a closer, more effective dialogue between the Village, the police and the LGBTQ community.
