Fine Arts Commission

”Our mission is to delight our community by creating a way of life that includes an ongoing encounter and continuous relationship with the arts. We strive to transform the ordinary and draw attention to the extraordinary through exhibitions, performances, and art in public places.”

Miami Shores Fine Arts Commission (FAC) is a village appointed board of volunteers, creating cultural arts encounters through the visual and performing arts. The current board members are Susan Ackley, Co-Chair, Michael Stock, Co-Chair, Miryam Rojas, Abbie Salt, Maria Echevarri Taddeo and David Traupman.

In recent years FAC has presented annual Spring Concerts in the Park, sponsored by a grant received from Miami Shores Community Alliance and smaller, more intimate “Friday Night Live” events including folk, drumming, jazz and opera performances. It’s initiated an “Art in Public Places” program that currently has three locations: Village Hall’s north lawn, Village Hall’s lobby gallery and the Aquatic Centers front green space. A permanent gift from Pop Culture artist, Romero Britto, is installed at the Aquatic center, the Village Hall locations present artist’s loaned works for one –three years.

FAC partners with Brockway Memorial Library hosting three, rotating artist’s exhibits each year. Each exhibit has an opening reception sponsored by a grant received from Miami Shores Community Alliance.
