Planning & Zoning


The Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for both long range and short range planning functions. Planning maintains and updates the Village’s Comprehensive Plan and the Land Development Regulations. All development plans are reviewed for conformity with these two guiding documents.

 

The Department coordinates the review process for development plans, special use permits, variances, and other applications as set out in the Miami Shores Village Code of Ordinances. To facilitate these processes the village offers assistance to applicants in the form of a pre-application meeting with staff, required for some applications, where staff is available to review the zoning permit application requirements with you and to review your project with you to determine compliance with the Village’s Comprehensive Plan and the Land Development Regulations.
