Village Budget Hearing - September 16, 2014

MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE

BUDGET HEARING – FISCAL YEAR 2014-2015

The Miami Shores Village Council held their second and final Public Hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2014-2015 millage levies and budgets on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. The Meeting was held in the Council Chambers of Village Hall and was called to order at 7:00 PM with the following members present:

ALSO PRESENT:             Tom Benton, Village Manager

                                           Barbara Estep, Village Clerk

                                           Richard Sarafan, Village Attorney

Mr. Benton provided a brief summary of the proposed millage rates and proposed budgets for the new fiscal year which begins October 1, 2014.

Mayor Holly opened the Public Hearing portion of the meeting and invited anyone present who wished to speak on the mill rates or budget to come forward.   No one present wished to comment on either the proposed tax rates or budgets. Ms. Estep read the proposed resolution into the record.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL, MIAMI SHORES

VILLAGE, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE FINAL LEVYING OF AD VALOREM TAXES FOR MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2015, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Councilman Davis moved to adopt the Resolution establishing the Fiscal Year 2015 final ad valorem tax levies. Councilwoman Ledesma seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE COUNCIL, MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE FINAL BUDGETS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2015; AND

PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Ms. Estep read the proposed Resolution into the record. Councilwoman Ledesma moved to adopt the Resolution adopting the Fiscal Year 2015 Budgets. Councilman Davis seconded the motion. Vice Mayor Walters indicated his intention to vote against the budget due to withdrawal of the Council’s discretionary funds. He and Councilman Davis praised the Administration and Staff for their work on the budget document. Mayor Holly called for the vote, which was 4 to 1, with Vice Mayor Walters dissenting.

ADJOURNMENT

The September 16, 2014 Public Hearing on the Fiscal Year 2014-2015 tax levies and budgets was adjourned at 7:05 PM.
