Rec Advisory Board Minutes Apr 2, 2012

Minutes of the Recreation Advisory Committee held on April 2, 2012.

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m.

 

Mr. Reich made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 5, 2012, meeting. Motion seconded by Mr. Digeronimo and unanimously approved.

 

Mr. Estep gave a summary of the recreation programs at this time. It was noted that intramural baseball is in full swing. There are a total of 239 registered for baseball and softball. The Little Shots program has 35 enrolled, aftercare has 72 enrolled and the travel flag football program has 44.

 

Mr. Estep announced that Shipwreck Cove opened March 31st. In addition to the pool resurfacing, the pool has new awnings and all new sunbrellas. Mr. Estep noted that April and May are big months for umbrella rentals at the pool.

 

Mr. Estep noted that 11,000 marshmallows will be dropped from a helicopter for the annual Marshmallow Drop. It was also noted that the Fine Arts March spring concert was well attended. The recreation department is currently prepping for the upcoming summer. The gymnastics program will be relocating to Doctors Charter School for the summer. St. Rose of Lima’s gymnasium will be used for volleyball and basketball camps.
