Wednesday, October 9, 2013

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Brockway Memorial Library was held at the library on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. Present were Library Director Elizabeth Esper, and board members Cheryl Gowing, Henry Harnage, Antonie Downs, Jennifer Quinton and Donna Hurtak.

1.         Minutes

            The minutes of the September 11, 2013 meeting were accepted as amended.

2.         Old Business

  • Bequest – Ms Esper wrote to Atty Jerome Hurtak to get more definitive details in writing regarding the Sydow bequest. Ms Esper also secured a reduced cost for preliminary drawings from DeRose for the proposed Children’s Reading Room…The cost will be $3,000 or less.
  • Parking meters – Ms Esper spoke with Tom Benton regarding the proposal to present the Parking Meter Fundraiser to the Village Council. Board Member Henry Harnage would like to present the idea to the council during public comments.
  • Patron Donation Recognition – Ms Buechele has requested a recognition/”in Memory of” plague for her father to be placed above the newspaper rack. A motion was made to inform Ms Buechele that the donation requirement would be $5,000.

 

          

         3.         New Business

  • Green Day Library Participation – During Green Day, Anne Kelly will host story telling from 3pm – 5pm; 5pm John Englander will present a book regarding rising sea levels; 6pm Lola Heasley will present a children’s book about butterflies and demonstrate a craft. There will be books for sale during the event.
  • Circulation Stats

5630 items circulated

260 new items processed

89 items withdrawn

29 items repaired

  •  Community Alliance Report

Board Member Henry Harnage attended the meeting and presented the Alliance with the book The Heart of the Community; Libraries we Love which features Brockway Memorial Library.

4.       Financial Report

            The financial report was approved as presented

 

The next meeting will be a Christmas Breakfast, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the home of Board Member Donna Hurtak.

The meeting adjourned at 10:18 a.m.
