The Miami Shores Police Department is a community-oriented police agency with the philosophy that the community and the police should work together to resolve problems that
negatively affect the community. The mission of the Department is to serve all people within the Village with the utmost respect, fairness and compassion. The Department is committed to the prevention of
crime and the protection of life and property; the preservation of peace, order and safety; the enforcement of all laws and ordinance; and the safeguarding of our nation's constitutional guarantees. With service to
the community as a foundation, the Department is driven by goals to enhance the quality of life, investigating problems and all incidents, seeking solutions and fostering a sense of security in the community. The
Department strives daily to nurture public trust by holding themselves to the highest standards of performance and ethics. In 1999 the Police Department implemented a new and innovative community-oriented policing
initiative that assigned each officer an individual neighborhood district. The Neighborhood Contact Officer Program (NCOP) has been successful in identifying quality of life issues, as well as specific problem
solving opportunities. A computerized, voice-mail system allows personal messaging from citizens directly to their NCOP officer. As citizen concern regarding speeding motorists remains a
priority, the Department continues its zero tolerance enforcement campaign called "Safe & Slow". Since the start of "Safe & Slow", the number of citations issued to speeding motorists has increased
steadily. The Department has received numerous compliments from citizens and very few complaints since the operation's inception. The Department will aggressively promote this campaign, ensuring the safety
of residents, businesses, and visitors of the Village. To contact the Police Department in an EMERGENCY call: 305-759-2468. To email us: police@miamishoresvillage.com |
