HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD

 

The Miami Shores Village Historic Preservation Board met at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in the Council Chambers of Village Hall. The following Board Members were present for the meeting:

ALSO PRESENT:             Barbara Estep, Village Clerk

 

 

CONSIDERATION

 

  1. 1)Request for Certificate of Appropriateness

Owner: Orrin & Charlene MacDonell

      Address: 9760 N.E. 5th Avenue Road

      Scope of Work: Rear Addition

 

 

Mr. and Mrs. MacDonnell, along with their architect, Anna Alvarez, were present for the meeting. Ms. Alvarez reviewed the scope of the request and detailed the plans for the rear addition and kitchen renovation. Ms. Estep confirmed that the kitchen renovation did not require Board approval. Individual Board Members asked questions regarding certain aspects of the addition, i.e. roof line and proposed roofing materials, window replacements, accommodation of air conditioning unit, and spatial relationships. The Board indicated that they wanted to ensure the integrity of the historic features of the home and that the proposed addition was in keeping with the overall design of the home. Following the discussions, Mr. Gonzalez moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for the rear addition. Mr. Bramson seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor of the motion.
