The
Code Enforcement Board meets the first Thursday of each month, beginning
at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers of Village Hall.
This Board is comprised of seven residents appointed by the
Village Council. The Board
members serve as judges with respect to property owners who are in
violation of the Village’s Code of Ordinances and who have been issued
“Notices of Violation” from a Code Enforcement Officer.
The duties of the Board are two-fold, the first is to verify,
through hearing testimony, that the violation exists and to offer a time
frame to allow the homeowner to bring the property into compliance; and
the second part is to apply a daily penalty if the property has not been
brought into compliance. Once a penalty fine has been assessed and is accruing, only
the Code Enforcement Board has the authority to negotiate the fine and
that is only if the violation has been cured.
Code Enforcement Board members serve on the Board for a three
year term.
