Neighborhood Contact Officer Program

In 1999 the Police Department implemented a new and innovative community-oriented policing initiative that assigned each officer an individual neighborhood district.  The Neighborhood Contact Officer Program (NCOP) has been successful in identifying quality of life issues, as well as specific problem solving opportunities. A computerized, voice-mail system allows personal messaging from citizens directly to their NCOP officer.

Safe & Slow Program

As citizen concern regarding speeding motorists remains a priority, the Department continues its zero tolerance enforcement campaign called "Safe & Slow".  Since the start of "Safe & Slow", the number of citations issued to speeding motorists has increased steadily.  The Department has received numerous compliments from citizens and very few complaints since the operation's inception.  The Department will aggressively promote this campaign, ensuring the safety of residents, businesses, and visitors of the Village.

Crime Watch

Miami Shores Crime Watch was started in April 1980 in conjunction with the Miami Shores Police Department. If you would like to volunteer as a "Block Captain", the Crime Watch Coordinator may be reached at 305-756-5767. Block Captains are the coordinator's contact for each block to facility the delivery of information concerning crime pattern and trends. The Crime Watch Coordinator and Miami Shores Police Department host Crime Watch Meetings for residents to provide crime prevention tips.

Mobile Patrol

The Mobile Patrol was created in January of 1985 with volunteers who are the "Eyes & Ears" of the Miami Shores Police Department. Volunteers patrol the Village looking for suspicious activity and when observed report it to the Police Department. Please contact 305-756-5767 to volunteer.
