North Dade Medical Foundation Media-Center

Ground breaking for the Multi-Media Center took place in September 2001 and construction began in November. The new addition was completed in August and its grand opening was in September 2002. The library successfully raised over $370,000 for the new multi-media center, which included $125,000 in grants from the State Library of Florida and a matching grant from North Dade Medical Foundation. The balance came from contributions by library patrons and friends.

The new multi-media room addition......

• Has added 2,500 square feet to the existing library facility.

• Has increased shelf space by over 800 feet.

• Contains dedicated spaces for videos and audio-cassettes, for reference materials, for a Book Sale Room and for the Miami Shores Archives.

• Houses a Computer Center which has increased the number of computers available to the public and, in addition, it has 10 outlets for notebook computers.

• Has a Conference Room for library meetings and programs.

• Has a Reference Room that contains over 2,100 volumes of reference materials.
