The Miami Shores Village Council presides over 12 different boards and committees.  They include:

  • Historic Preservation - Responsible for preserving and designating structures and/or sites that have historical value.
  • Planning & Zoning - Serves as the Village's Local Planning Agency, ensures that property renovations and all new construction complies with the requirements of the Village's Code of Ordinances and the South Florida Building Code, serves as the first level of appeal to a Building Official's decision.
  • Code Enforcement - Responsible for enforcing the provisions of the Village's Code. The Board meets on the first Thursday of every month.
  • Handicapped Services - Addresses issues of ADA compliance.
  • Library - responsible for setting policy of the Brockway Memorial Library.
  • Fine Arts - Plans and organizes fine arts and special events.
  • Recreation Advisory - Advises the recreation director and the Village Manager on recreation activities.
  • Country Club Advisory - Advises the Club's Manager on matters effecting the club and serves as a liaison between members and management.
  • Personnel Appeals - Holds hearings on complaints of Village employees who have been discharged/suspended for more than 3 days, or reduced in rank/pay.
  • General Employee Pension - Responsible for the general administration of the employee pension plan.
