General Code Information

 

Pets

The Village Code allows no more than 3 dogs above the age of six months in a household or up to 4 cats over the age of six months.

 

It is unlawful for residents to keep dogs or cats who exhibit frequent or habitual barking, yelping or howling, or in the case of cats; crying or meowing. 

 

Dogs are not allowed to be off of their property without a dependable leash, not longer than 8 feet, or unless the dog is under control of the owner or other responsible person.

 

Pooper Scooper Rule Applies: Persons walking dogs are responsible for picking up after the dog if they are not on their own property.

 

Outdoor Storage

Outdoor storage of household appliances (operating or not) hot water heaters, discarded furniture, household wares, building materials, lawn maintenance equipment, automobile parts or junk are prohibited

 

Boats and Recreational Vehicles

Boats on a licensed trailer or recreational campers and trailers may be parked or stored on a property as long as they do not exceed 20' in length and 10' in height. Only one such registered vehicle can be stored in your rear yard (boat only in side yard) and the vehicle owner must be a permanent resident of the home. The grass under the vehicle must be trimmed to the same height as the remainder of the yard.

 

Automobiles and Maintenance

The storage of abandoned, wrecked, inoperable or junked vehicles or vehicles without a valid license plate is prohibited, except under emergency repairs associated with the vehicle.

 

Commercial Vehicles

Storage or overnight parking of commercial vehicles is forbidden. Commercial vehicles may be parked at a residence only if "on call" while conducting business in the home.

 

Grass, Hedge & Fence Heights

Grass must be maintained to a height of no more that 8 inches (excludes shrubs, ornamental plants, trees or native Floridian vegetation). Fences, walls and hedges are only permitted along the lot line to allowed heights in front, side and rear yards. Vegetable gardens are not allowed in front yards.

 

Sidewalks, Driveways & Alleys

The maintenance of driveways, sidewalks, swale areas and alleys on or bordering the property, is the sole responsibility of the homeowner.
