MIAMI SHORES VILLAGE
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
The
Miami Shores Village Council held their regularly scheduled Meeting on Tuesday, March
2, 2004 at the Village
Hall. The Meeting was called to
order at 7:30 PM with the
following members present:

ABSENT: Ed Quinton
PRESENTATION
Mr.
Bert presented Ms.Brenda Westhorp the “House of the Month” award for the
month of March, 2004.
Misters
Patrick Leung and Robert Gomez of the Washington Group International
engineering/design firm made a presentation on behalf of the Florida
Department of Transportation regarding the Biscayne Boulevard Improvement
Project.

A) APPROVAL OF THE FEBRUARY 3, 2004 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES AND THE FEBRUARY 17,
2004 COUNCIL WORKSHOP
MEETING MINUTES.
Mr. Ullman moved approval
of the Minutes as submitted. Mr.
Davis seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor.
2) VILLAGE MANAGER Tom Benton
A) DISCUSSION
REGARDING ANNEXATION OF PORTIONS OF UNINCORPORATED MIAMI-DADE COUNTY LOCATED WEST OF MIAMI SHORS VILLAGE.
Mr. Benton offered
background information regarding the proposals to annex two areas of the County and
summarized the cost versus revenue information provided to the
Council. Mr. Benton indicated that
the numbers represent preliminary numbers only as the Finance Director, Mark Malatak
has been out of the office due to a death in the family. It was the consensus of the Council to
hold a workshop meeting immediately following the next regularly scheduled
Council Meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at 7:00 PM.
3) VILLAGE COUNCIL Mayor
McCoy
A) DISCUSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE SHORES
PERFORMING ARTS THEATER AND FUTURE GRANT PAYMENTS.
Mayor McCoy introduced
Carol Schafmeister from the Theater’s Board. Ms. Schafmeister provided the Council
with information regarding the operational status of the Theater.
4) ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ms. Estep read the
announcements.
5) PUBLIC COMMENTS
No Public Comments were
offered.
6) COUNCIL COMMENTS
Greg Ullman Mr.
Ullman thanked Ms. Schafmeister for her presentation and commended the
dedication of the Theater’s Board.
Mr. Ullman also spoke about the Mayor’s Ball.
Al Davis Mr.
Davis spoke about the Mayor’s Ball and offered
condolences to Mark
Malatak and his
family on the death of his father.
Herta Holly Ms.
Holly expressed her sympathies to Mark Malatak and his family and also spoke of the Mayor’s
Ball.
Mayor McCoy Mayor McCoy spoke about the
Ball and thanked all of those involved in the event.

The
March 2, 2004 Regular Council Meeting was adjourned at 8:35 PM.
